Breaking-News >> TodayHistory On August 4, 1875, the Danish writer Andersen died
150 years ago today, on August 4, 1875 (July 4, 1875 in the lunar calendar), Danish writer Andersen passed away. In 1805, Andersen was born in a poor shoemaker's home in Odense, Fying Island. When he was 11 years old, his father passed away unfortunately. At the age of 14, he left his hometown alone to Copenhagen, the capital, and entered singing school. But his poor life made him sick, his voice was greatly damaged, and he had no hope of continuing to sing. Andersen later entered grammar school, but was often despised and ridiculed. Fortunately, there was a small library in the school, which became his only spiritual comfort and also aroused his enthusiasm for life and writing. In 1829, his book "The Walk from the Holman Canal to Eastern Amma" was published. Soon, a comedy he wrote,"Love Under Nikolata", was also staged at the Royal Theater. However, because Andersen came from a "humble" background, his preliminary achievements in literature were envied and attacked by a group of boring literati. Unable to stand this environment, he left the dreary air of Copenhagen in the summer of 1830 and traveled to his hometown of Feyin and the Tongdeland Peninsula. The beautiful nature and simple people gave him new feelings and confidence in life, and a higher enthusiasm for creation. During the trip, he wrote the poem "Fantasy and Sketches". This short trip had a great impact on Andersen. From then on, he had an indissoluble bond with travel. In the spring of 1831, he made his first trip to the Harz Mountains in Germany. After returning to China, he wrote two books,"Travel Silhouette" and "Wandering in the Harz Mountains". In April 1833, Andersen traveled abroad for the second time, visiting Germany, France, Austria, Switzerland and Italy. He did not return to China until August of the following year. During his journey, he couldn't leave the majestic Notre Dame Cathedral and the Palais de Vercée in Paris, the Colosseum and St. Peter's Basilica in Rome, and the oil paintings of the Louvre in France and the sculptures on the streets of Italy made him linger. The young and studious Andersen swam in this huge ocean of art like a fish in water. In 1835, Andersen's first fairy tales (including the famous "The Tinker Box" and "The Princess on the Peas") and the novel "The Improvising Poet" were published and received well from readers. Andersen once said: "Travel is life." In his life, he traveled abroad 29 times. Until 1873, the 68-year-old Andersen was still in his leisure and traveled to Switzerland in full swing. At that time, travel conditions were difficult. During his travels, Andersen mostly traveled by mail carriages or donkeys or horses, and sometimes even walked. Except for Russia, Finland and Poland, he traveled almost all of Europe, and his footprints were also left on the land of Asia and Africa. Everywhere he went, he could quickly write his experiences and impressions into travel notes. He often drew sketches during his journey, drawing what he saw and heard to help him remember. The lakes, mountains, scenic spots and historic sites of various countries broadened Andersen's mind; living in the wind and living hard tempered his will; Traveling long distances, going deep into the lower levels, and understanding society enabled him to collect and accumulate writing materials. His fairy tale "Eternal Friendship" tells the story of Greek patriots fighting against foreign invaders,"Ice Girl" tells the story of the Swiss, and the novel "Improvising Poet" is set in Italy. On August 4, 1875, Andersen passed away. He left 156 fairy tales, 6 novels, and a large number of poems and travel notes to future generations. He has won various honors and awards and was praised by the government as the "Great Dane". News raw data sources → https://www.abtool.cn/today_detail/1kra.html 17WorldNews[2025.09.12-01:51] 访问:74
