On October 16, 2009 (August 28, 2009 lunar calendar), the 11th National Games was held in Shandong Province. The 11th National Games of the People's Republic of China, referred to as the 11th National Games, was held in Shandong Province from October 16 to October 28, 2009. The Games consisted of 33 major events, 43 sub-events, 362 sub-events, including 28 Summer Olympic events, 4 winter events and martial arts events. Of the 362 sub-events, the marathon was held in Beijing, Speed Skating and Freestyle Skiing were held in Shenyang and Changchun respectively, and the remaining 354 sub-events were held in 17 regions in Shandong Province.
