On October 16, 2009 (August 28, 2009 lunar calendar), the 11th National Games was held in Shandong Province. The 11th National Games of the People's Republic of China, referred to as the 11th National Games, was held in Shandong Province from October 16 to October 28, 2009. The Games consisted of 33 major events, 43 sub-events, 362 sub-events, including 28 Summer Olympic events, 4 winter events and martial arts events. Of the 362 sub-events, the marathon was held in Beijing, Speed Skating and Freestyle Skiing were held in Shenyang and Changchun respectively, and the remaining 354 sub-events were held in 17 regions in Shandong Province. A total of 12,000 athletes from 46 delegations participated, exceeding the scale of the previous ten sessions. A total of 411 gold medals, 396 silver medals and 436 bronze medals were produced in the 11th National Games. Among all 46 delegations, 32 delegations won gold medals and 35 delegations won medals. Among them, Shandong, Jiangsu and Liaoning ranked among the top three in the gold medal table, winning 63, 48.5 and 48 gold medals respectively. A total of 7 people set 5 world records 9 times, 12 people from 3 teams set 16 Asian records 21 times, 29 people from 5 teams set 39 national records 52 times, and 5 people set 8 national youth records 12 times.
