On this day 88 years ago, on July 31, 1937 (June 24, 1937 in the lunar calendar), the "Seven Gentlemen" were released from prison. On July 31, 1937, due to the unyielding struggle of Shen Junru, Zou Taofen and others, the rescue of the National Salvation Congress and anti-Japanese groups, and the strong solidarity of people from all walks of life in the country, the National Government released the "Seven Gentlemen" from prison. After Shen Junru and Zou Taofen were released from prison, they led the National Salvation Congress to continue to engage in the anti-Japanese salvation movement. Li Gongpu expressed his will in his diary with Li Shangyin's sentence "Spring silkworms until the silk is exhausted, the wax torch turns into ash and tears begin to dry".
