The fall of the Qin Dynasty

On November 14, 207 BC, Liu Bang led his army into Xianyang, the capital of the Qin Dynasty. The last Qin prince surrendered, and the Qin Dynasty officially fell on this day. It can be said to be a short-lived dynasty, but the history of Qin is very long.

During the Spring and Autumn Period and the Warring States Period, the state of Qin had always been a powerful country. In the end, Ying Zheng, the king of Qin, unified the six countries and established the Qin Dynasty. Ying Zheng, who was known as the emperor of thousands of years, established counties, unified currencies, weights and measures, the same text in books, and the same track in cars. This did contribute a lot to the unification of the country, but only 15 years after the establishment of the central government, it was burnt to ashes in the middle of the flames of the national uprising. After the war that annexed the six countries, the first emperor was overwhelmed by the victory. After the unification, the military service and labor service were much higher than during the previous war.

As soon as the world settled down, Qin Shihuang opened up battlefields in the north and south border areas thousands of miles away. In order to transport grain, he also built a canal called Linxi. Qin Shihuang also ordered the construction of Afang Palace and Lishan Tomb. At that time, more than 2 million people were performing military and labor service, and at least a similar number of people transported grain and other supplies for these people. At that time, the world's population was only 20 million, which means that Qin Shihuang recruited 20% of the country's population for military and labor service. Such simple reproduction could no longer be maintained. The world was furious, and the Qin Dynasty did not implement benevolent policies and blindly suppressed it brutally. In 209 BC, Qin Shihuang died of illness.

Nine months later, a spark ignited in Dazhe Township quickly started a prairie fire, and Chen Sheng and Wu Guang, who took the lead, called out to the world for a long time, and these farmers rioted in groups. After the news came out, the whole world rose up, and by 206 BC, the situation of the Qin Dynasty was out of control, and there was infighting in the upper echelons. After Qin Shi Huang's grandson Ziying succeeded the throne, he could not maintain the status of the Qin Dynasty, so he had to kneel and surrender with the jade seal of the heirloom.

After the fall of the Qin Dynasty, in the early years of the Han Dynasty, it took the lessons of the fall of the Qin Dynasty as a warning everywhere, which ushered in the first prosperous era of Wenjing in ancient Chinese history. However, it can be sighed that in the following thousands of years, many ignorant monarchs and tyrants still repeated the mistakes of the Qin Dynasty's abuse of people's power. This is just like what Du Mu of the Tang Dynasty lamented in the "Fu of the Afanggong", and future generations mourned it but did not learn from it, so that future generations would mourn for future generations.

Key words: -November 14, 207, the fall of the Qin Dynasty
