On December 13, 2002, the train landed on Hainan Island
On December 13, 2002 (November 10, 2002 in the lunar calendar), the train landed on Hainan Island. At 10:5 am on December 13, 2002, the two rail trains carried by the "Guangdong Railway No. 1" train ferry safely arrived at the Nangang Wharf in Haikou, marking the end of the history of no trains between Hainan and the mainland. In order to achieve the official opening of the Guangdong-Sea Railway at the end of 2002, the joint commissioning of the heavy-load at Funqiao Port began on December 11. First, the loading and unloading test of the heavy-load train was carried out at the Beigang Wharf on the north bank of the Qiongzhou Strait, which was a complete success. On the morning of the 13th, the "Guangdong Railway No. 1" train ferry was loaded with two special rail trains with a total weight of more than 700 tons and two locomotives weighing 138 tons. After a 44-minute cross-sea voyage, it arrived at the Nangang Wharf smoothly. It is understood that the joint commissioning, the ship, trestle and all port equipment all met the predetermined standards. Guangdong Railway is the first cross-sea railway in our country and is one of the key railway construction projects during the national "Ninth Five-Year Plan" period. It started on August 30, 1998. It was jointly built by the Ministry of Railways, Hainan Province and Guangdong Province, with a total investment of 4.50 billion yuan. At 10:46, the cross-sea train landed on Hainan Island for the first time at 9:11. The train left Guangdong Beigang by ferry at 10:20. The ferry connected with the Hainan Nangang trestle and more than 10,000 people were competing for the arrival of the train
