48 years ago today, November 6, 1977 (September 25, 1977 in the lunar calendar), the Suez Canal incident ended. In July 1956, Egyptian President Nasser announced the nationalization of the Suez Canal Company controlled by Britain and France. In order to regain possession of the Suez Canal, British and French imperialism collaborated with Israel to launch a war of aggression against Egypt at the end of October of the same year. The Egyptian people fought bravely and received firm and strong support from people around the world and public opinion of various countries. They finally forced Britain, France and Israel to agree to a ceasefire on November 6, and then withdrew their troops one after another. The Egyptian people achieved a glorious victory in the struggle against imperialist aggression and defending national independence and sovereignty. The Suez Canal is located in the Isthmus of Suez in Egypt and is an important waterway in Europe, Asia and Africa. Since the canal was dug in 1869, it has been operated and managed by the Suez Canal Company, which is controlled by the monopoly capital of Britain and France, and has become a tool for their invasion of Egypt and the Middle East. In 1882, the British army occupied Egypt and established Britain's largest overseas military base in the Yunhe District. After the Second World War, the Egyptian national liberation movement surged. In July 1952, it overthrew the rule of the Farouk Dynasty backed by Britain. In June 1956, the last British troops were forced to withdraw from the Suez Yunhe District, and finally ended the British military occupation of Egypt. During the canal incident, the United States took the opportunity to fish in troubled waters and carried out various activities to exclude Britain, France and attempt to dominate the Middle East.
