On this day, 68 years ago, on December 6, 1957 (October 15, 1957, the lunar calendar), more than 1,000 scientific cadres from the capital went to the countryside to work for training. On December 6, 1957, the first batch of 1,090 cadres to participate in agricultural labor from various units and headquarters of the China Academy of Sciences in Beijing began to set out in batches that evening. Among the scientific cadres who went to rural areas for labor training, more than 80% have a cultural level ranging from high school to college graduates; two-thirds are junior researchers and assistant business personnel, and the remaining one-third are scientific administrative cadres. Party and league members account for nearly half of all decentralized cadres. The decentralized cadres were divided into four brigades and went to agricultural cooperatives in Jianping, Jingxing, Zanhuang and Gaocheng counties in Shijiazhuang Prefecture, Hebei Province to become members. Some were in plain rural areas and some were in mountainous rural areas. China Academy of Sciences had previously sent deputy secretaries of the CPC Party Committee, directors of the Cadre Bureau, and staff of the Cadre Bureau to the Hebei Provincial Committee of the Communist Party of China, the Shijiazhuang Prefectural Committee and the county committees of the above-mentioned counties to contact and understand the situation; the director of the Cadre Bureau would also send them to the countryside. In the above four counties, China Academy of Sciences has dispatched a number of cadres with local work experience to do ideological education for decentralized cadres.
