On this day 38 years ago, on April 23, 1987 (March 26, 1987 in the lunar calendar), Tianjin Daqiu Zhuang became the first 100 million yuan village in China. Daqiu Zhuang: Industrial strong town early adopter green industry Daqiu Zhuang originally had 11 industrial teams, more than 1,200 labor forces, more than 4,000 mu of land, and the highest annual grain production was more than 1.2 million kilograms. By 1988, most of them had entered the factory, and there were fewer and fewer people farming, but the situation was getting better and better. They can do this because after a large number of labor forces have been transferred to industry, the industrial strength has greatly increased and agriculture has been continuously invested. From 1983 to 1987, Daqiuzhuang Agricultural and Industrial Union Corporation invested more than 5.8 million yuan in agriculture, and farmland operations from planting to harvesting have been fully mechanized. There, agriculture has become an enviable cause. Daqiuzhuang belongs to Caigongzhuang Township, Jinghai County, Tianjin. It is only 7.25 square kilometers and is all saline-alkali land; the villagers are only 4,000, and most of them are illiterate or semi-literate. There is a jingle in Daqiuzhuang: Daqiuzhuang, Laodongxiang, drinking bitter water, swallowing vegetables, and bran vegetables instead of half a year's grain. But by 1991, the total output value of Daqiuzhuang's industry and agriculture had reached 1.80 billion, an increase of 1,000 times compared with 1978. The village has 256 various enterprises and more than 200 imported high-end cars, including more than a dozen "Mercedes-Benz" alone. The entire village's agriculture has been mechanized, reaching the level of developed countries in the world. The agricultural labor force has been reduced from 1,200 in 1978 to 8, but the grain output has quadrupled. In 1992, the total output value, profits and taxes paid, and net profits of the whole village were 4.55 billion yuan, 100 million yuan, and 510 million, respectively, creating an amazing performance of 13-fold increase in output value in the 13 years since the reform.
