31 years ago today, on January 21, 1994 (December 10, 1993 in the lunar calendar), the State Council decided to change the name of the members of the Chinese Academy of Sciences to academicians. In China, academicians were formerly known as members of the Faculty, which are senior experts in a certain field. Academicians include: Academician of the Chinese Academy of Engineering, which is the highest academic title in science and technology established by the state and is a lifetime honor. The earliest academicians in China were produced in March 1948. Through layers of selection, 81 people were elected as the first Chinese academicians. In 1955, the Chinese Academy of Sciences selected members (renamed academicians in 1994). Among the 81 academicians mentioned above, 46 famous scientists including Hua Luogeng, Su Buqing, Guo Moruo, Li Siguang, Zhu Kezhen, and Mao Yisheng entered the ranks of the first batch of academicians (academicians) in New China. In 1994, the Chinese Academy of Engineering began to select engineering academicians. There are currently more than 1,000 academicians in the two academies across the country. Explanation of terms: Academician (Academician) originated from Academy. Academy is a hero who died saving Athens from disaster in ancient Greek legends. To commemorate this wise and brave hero, the Greeks established a quiet garden named after the Academy. In the 916 years after the establishment of the park, scholars who were moved by the wisdom and bravery of the Academy gave lectures and carried out spontaneous academic activities in the park. Therefore, many subsequent academic groups called themselves "Academy". In 1666, the Royal Academy of Sciences was established in France, and famous scientists who worked in the Academy were first called "Academy". After that, the Royal Society of England, the Royal Prussian Academy of Sciences, and the Royal Petersburg Academy of Sciences all used the title "Academician" to name their country's most outstanding scientists. "Academician" became the highest honorary title given to scientists in academia. News raw data sources → https://www.abtool.cn/today_detail/1x3e.html 17WorldNews[2025.09.11-14:11] 访问:76
