On this day 121 years ago, on September 29, 1904 (August 20, 1904 lunar calendar), Yi Jianlong, the founder of China's blood transfusion and rescue business and the founder of modern blood banks, was born. Yi Jianlong, formerly known as Jia Qiu according to the ranking, was born on September 29, 1904 (August 20, the first lunar year) in rural Xiangyin County (now Miluo County) in Hunan Province. His date of birth was shortly after the Mid-Autumn Festival. According to the folk customs of his hometown, dragon dances are performed during the Mid-Autumn Festival. After graduation, he followed Cai Qiao to Shanghai Rashid Medical Research Institute (HenryLesterInstitute) as a researcher, studying the role of the liver in maintaining blood sugar concentration, etc., and published 5 papers. He could not bear the discrimination and exclusion of Chinese researchers by the British leader of the physiological science group of the institute, B.E. Reid. In 1935, he left his job angrily and joined Cai Qiao as a lecturer in the department of science at Nanjing Central University Medical College, which was just established at that time. The equipment, conditions and treatment were much worse. He has collaborated with Cai Qiao to publish several papers in ChineseJournalofPhysiology (Chinese Journal of Physiology).
