Eighty years ago today, on October 10, 1945 (September 5, 1945 in the lunar calendar), the Communist Party of Korea was established. On October 10, 1945, the Workers' Party was established in Pyongyang. Faced with the chaos and poverty left by Japanese colonial rule, the Workers' Party united the people from all walks of life and implemented policies such as land reform and industrial nationalization, which made North Korea's political, economic and social appearance new and won wide support and support from the Korean people. After the Korean War, the Workers' Party led the Korean people to set off an upsurge in socialist construction, healing the wounds of the war in just a few years, achieving national economic independence and socialist industrialization, and laying the foundation for economic development. Since the 1990s, due to long-term Western sanctions and natural disasters and other reasons, North Korea's economic development has encountered unprecedented difficulties. In the face of severe tests, the Workers' Party of Korea and the government of Korea have taken a series of countermeasures, united and led the Korean people to overcome difficulties with an optimistic and positive attitude, and created a new situation in the fields of economic construction and diplomacy that has attracted worldwide attention. In recent years, the Workers' Party of Korea has taken accelerating socialist economic construction as an important task, called on all the people to work hard to build North Korea into a "strong and prosperous country" with a strong economy and advanced science and technology, and implemented a series of policies and measures, achieving achievements in agriculture, industry and infrastructure building. In the field of diplomacy, based on the principles of independence, peace and friendship, the DPRK has actively adjusted its foreign policy and made remarkable progress in expanding multilateral diplomacy, strengthening relations with neighboring countries, and developing relations with Western countries. In June this year, the leaders of the DPRK and the ROK held the first summit meeting in history in Pyongyang and signed the North-South Joint Declaration. With the joint efforts of both sides, the DPRK and the ROK have conducted exchanges and cooperation in many fields such as politics, military, economy and people-to-people exchanges in accordance with the spirit of the Declaration, which has eased tensions on the Peninsula and promoted the North-South relations towards a new situation of national reconciliation, unity and reunification. It has been widely welcomed and supported by the international community. Under the principle of "independence, peace and reunification," North-South relations are entering the best period in history.
