On this day, 318 years ago, on April 5, 1707 (March 3, 1707 in the lunar calendar), the famous Swiss mathematician Leonhard Euler was born. Leonhard Euler is a Swiss mathematician and physicist. He is known as one of the two greatest mathematicians in history (the other is Karl Friedrich Gauss). Euler was the first to use the word "function" to describe expressions that contained various parameters, such as: y=F(x)(the definition of a function was given by Leibniz in 1694). He was one of the pioneers in applying calculus to physics. Euler was born in Switzerland and was educated there. Euler was a mathematical prodigy. As a professor of mathematics, he taught in St. Petersburg and Berlin before returning to St. Petersburg. Euler was the most prolific mathematician of all time, with his complete works totaling 75 volumes. Euler actually dominated mathematics in the 18th century, deriving many results from the newly invented calculus at the time. In the last seven years of his life, Euler was completely blind. Despite this, he still produced half of his life's writings at an alarming rate. Oula lived a very religious life. However, the widely circulated legend is not true. Legend says that Euler challenged Denis Diderot in the court of Catherine II: "Sir,(a b)n/n=x; so God exists, and this is the answer! "Oula's death was also very special: it was said that it was afternoon tea time and while playing with his grandson, he was suffocated and died when a piece of cake stuck in his throat. Asteroid Euler 2002 was named in honor of Euler.
