In 1976, the degree group jointly organized by the Ministry of Education and the Science and Technology Cadre Bureau of the State Council formulated the "Regulations of the People's Republic of China on Academic Degrees (Draft) ". After deliberation and amendment, it was discussed and approved by the 13th meeting of the Standing Committee of the National People's Congress on February 15, 1980. The degree system stipulates that our country has three degrees: bachelor's, master's and doctoral. On June 16, 1982, our country held its first doctoral dissertation defense meeting. Ma Zhongqi, Xie Huimin, Li Shangzhi, Zhao Lincheng, Bai Zhidong and Feng Yulin received their doctorates. In addition to Feng Wanglin's doctorate in engineering, the remaining five received their doctorates of science. They became the first batch of doctorates trained since the official implementation of the degree system in our country. On October 19, 1983, our country first cultivated the first batch of liberal arts doctorates. So far, our country's degree system has become comprehensive and mature.
