Forty-two years ago today, on May 18, 1983 (April 6, 1983 lunar calendar), our country's naval voyage practice fleet set sail. On May 18, 1983, our country's naval voyage practice fleet set sail from Zhanjiang Port, passed through the Xisha Islands, and arrived at the southernmost point of the motherland's sea border - Zengmu Undersand of the Nansha Islands. Then it crossed the Balintang Strait, entered the vast Western Pacific Ocean, and then took the Sulfur Islands as the turning point. Through the Dayu Strait, it crossed the East China Sea, sailed out of the Taiwan Strait, and returned to Zhanjiang. The naval voyage practice fleet is composed of a 20,000-ton supply ship and a 2,000-ton transport ship. There are more than 100 ship (boat) captains, marine business captains, marine captains and some naval college navigation instructors participating in this voyage practice. They are all young cadres. The long-distance sailing internship is a major measure for the Navy to strengthen the revolutionary, youthful, knowledgeable and professional construction of the cadre team. On June 11, the People's Liberation Army Navy's long-distance sailing internship fleet sailed more than 6,000 nautical miles in the Western Pacific Ocean and other waters, and successfully completed various internship tasks and returned to Zhanjiang Port. During the sailing internship, the young naval cadres have withstood the severe test of various complex meteorological conditions and exercised their thinking, style and technology. After the maritime assessment, all the interns have achieved excellent results in astronomy and radio navigation and positioning, nautical chart operations, meteorological analysis and forecasting, hydrological and geographical investigation, and ship operation.
