On this day 146 years ago, on December 21, 1879 (November 9, 1879 lunar calendar), Stalin was born. Stalin (1879-1953) Joseph Visalionovich Stalin, leader of the Soviet Party and state, activist of the international communist movement. Stalin's original surname is Djugashvili, and he was born on December 21, 1879 to a family of shoemakers in Gori, Georgia, Russia. In April 1922, he was elected as the General Secretary of the Central Committee of the Communist Party of China (Bolsheviks) at the first meeting of the newly elected Central Committee of the 11th Party Congress. After Lenin's death in January 1924, Stalin gradually became the main leader of the party and state of the Soviet Union. He led the whole party and the people of the whole country to realize socialist industrialization and agricultural collectivization, and made achievements in socialist transformation and construction. He criticized Trotsky, Zinoviev, Kamenev, Bukharin and other opposition groups within the party and expelled them from the leading organs. In 1936, he made a report on the draft of the new constitution of the Soviet Union and announced the completion of socialism in the Soviet Union. In 1941, he concurrently served as Chairperson of the People's Committee of the Soviet Union (renamed Chairperson of the Council of Ministers since 1946). After the start of the Great Patriotic War, he served as the Supreme Commander of the Soviet Armed Forces. He led the Soviet people in an arduous battle for 4 years, achieved a great victory in the Anti-Fascist War, and contributed to the cause of world peace and human progress. After the war, he led the Soviet people to rapidly restore and develop the national economy. From 1950 to 1952, he published "Marxism and Linguistic Problems" and "Economic Problems of Socialism in the Soviet Union". He died on March 5, 1953.
