On November 5, 1981, Samuel Rosen, a good friend of the China people and a famous American otologist, died at Beijing Capital Hospital due to ruptured abdominal aortic aneurysm and massive bleeding during his ninth visit to China. Mrs. Rosen was accompanying her. Dr. Rosen has made great efforts for mutual understanding and academic exchanges between the two peoples over the years. He is an old friend and good friend of the China people. As early as 1937, Professor Rosen learned about China from Dr. Bethune and collected medicines to transfer them to the Jiefang District of China to support the China people's War of Resistance Against Japanese Aggression. After the founding of New China, he enthusiastically supported New China and actively demanded the normalization of Sino-US relations. He was once persecuted by McCarthyism. After China regained its seat in the United Nations in 1971, Professor Rosen was one of the first American doctors to visit China and was received by Premier Zhou. Since then, the Rossons have led delegations to visit China many times, making outstanding contributions to medical exchanges between the two countries. At Mrs Rosen's request, half of Dr. Rosen's ashes will be brought back to the United States by his wife and their children, and half will be scattered on the land of China.
