July 5, 1833: French inventor Nieppes passed away
On this day, 192 years ago, July 5, 1833 (May 18, 1833, the world's first photographer, Niepps, passed away. Joseph Nicéphores Nièpce (1765-July 5, 1833) was a French inventor and the successful photographer of the world's first permanent photo. In 1829, he reached a partnership with Daguerre to jointly study photography. On July 5, 1833, Nieppes died unexpectedly. In 1839, the French Academy of Sciences and Arts announced that Daguerre had obtained a patent for photography. It is recognized that the world's first photo was taken by Frenchman Nieppes in 1827, but now the world's recognized inventor of photography is Daguerre of France. Nieppes was the inventor of photography who had not received public attention. He took the world's first photo. During that period, the emergence of photography had many problems that needed to be solved. The mystery of pinhole imaging was discovered as early as the days of Aristotle and Mozi in China. To this day, the principle of pinhole imaging is still applicable to photography. But an important reason that hindered photography at that time was that the method of retaining images had still not been discovered. In 1825, Frenchman Nieppes commissioned French optical instrument trader Charles Chevalier to make optical lenses for his camera aobscura. In 1827 (it is said that 1826), he put the photosensitive material he invented into a cassette to take and record the first photographic work in history. His work was filmed at his home in Burgundy, France, through a window in his attic, with exposure times exceeding eight hours. The world's first permanent photo "Roof Outside the Window" was taken by Niepes. The world's first color photo was taken by Maxwell in 1861. The time was evaluated and influenced by Niepes. A man who collaborated with Daguerre on photography, but due to his early death and bad luck, he left all his reputation to Daguerre. Whenever he talked about the great invention of photography, everyone knew Daguerre's silver plate method, but the first person to invent photography was Niepes. However, not many people had the respect he deserved. He spent his whole life creating and inventing. When he first stuck light on objects, photography was born in the world. Destiny may really exist, Daguerre has always lived a graceful life, and his works will last forever, but what about Nieppes? After his death, Daguerre erased the name from the contract, and the works left behind were treated irresponsibly. In the end, only a dilapidated original work and a replica were left. He died of illness in poverty and devoted everything to photography, but did not get his due status. It is said that in his hometown, people erected a monument in his honor and called him the first photographer.
