On March 4, 2002 (January 21, 2002 in the lunar calendar), Shen Xueyuan, one of the founders of farming science in China, passed away. Shen Xueyuan Shen Xueyuan (1906-2002), born in Yuyao, Zhejiang Province, is a famous agronomist, agricultural educator in my country, and one of the founders of farming science in China. He was the first to teach at the National Northwest Agriculture and Forestry College and one of the early founders of the Department of Agronomy of Northwest A & F University. He has long been committed to higher agricultural education and crop scientific research, and has made contributions to crop breeding and the establishment and development of my country's farming science field. He died of illness in Hangzhou on March 4, 2002.
