Twenty-seven years ago today, on May 13, 1998 (April 18, 1998 lunar calendar), a forest fire broke out in Arshan, Greater Khingan Mountains. On May 13, 1998, a forest fire caused by lightning strikes broke out in Arshan, Greater Khingan Mountains, covering an area of more than 13,000 hectares. General Secretary Jiang Zemin and Vice Premier Wen Jiabao paid great attention to the fire fighting work and issued instructions on many occasions. Chairperson of the Inner Mongolia Autonomous Region Government Yun Bulong, Vice Chairperson Fu Shouzheng, and Deputy Director of the State Forestry Administration Li Yucai arrived at the front line of the fire to organize the deployment of fire fighting work.
