Yang Shoujing (1839-1915) was from Lucheng Town, Yidu City, Hubei Province. On June 2, 1839, Yang Shoujing was born into a merchant family in Lucheng, Yidu. Yang Shoujing was elected in the first year of Tongzhi (1862), and was admitted to Jingshan Palace School for teaching in the fourth year of Tongzhi (1865). In 1874, he was admitted to the National History Museum. From 1880 to 1884, he served as an attaché to the Qin envoy in Japan. After returning to China, he successively served as the instructor of Huanggang, the instructor of Lianghu Academy, and the chief dean of Qincheng (later more ancient) school. During his time in Japan, Yang Shoujing shocked many famous calligraphy masters in Japan with his exquisite calligraphy of Chinese characters. He was also invited to give lectures, exchange calligraphy skills, and include disciples, which created a "reverence for Yang Feng" in the Japanese calligraphy world at that time, and its influence still exists today. Yang Shoujing can be called a great collector of modern books.
