On this day, 70 years ago, on February 21, 1955 (January 29, 1955, the lunar calendar), my country issued a new RMB. On February 21, 1955, the State Council issued the "Order on Issuing New RMB and Recovering Existing RMB." It was decided that the People's Bank of China will start issuing new RMB across the country starting from March 1, 1955. The new currency will have a denomination. The main currency will be divided into 5 types: 1 yuan, 2 yuan, 3 yuan, 5 yuan, and 10 yuan (issued on December 1, 1957). The secondary currency will be divided into 6 types: 1 cent, 2 cents, 5 cents, 1 jiao, 2 jiao, and 5 jiao. Each coupon page is printed in four languages: Chinese, Tibetan, Mongolian and Uyghur.
