On October 14, 2010 (September 7, 2010 lunar calendar), Russia began a national census. From October 14 to 25, 2010, Russia will carry out a new national census. Russia will spend about 17 billion rubles on the census, said Surinov, head of the Russian Statistics Bureau. During this time, more than 600,000 staff will assist in the census registration work, and more than 130,000 police officers will be responsible for security work. During the census, every Russian citizen needs to answer questions related to personal information, such as marital status, education level, what language they know, source of life, ethnicity and nationality. Foreigners need to answer questions such as gender, age, purpose of coming to Russia and length of stay in Russia. In the table on housing questions, Russians will also be asked about the year when the house was built, what materials were used to build it, as well as the interior decoration and living conditions. The last census in Russia was conducted in 2002, when the total population was 145.20 million. The preliminary results of the census will be announced in March 2011, and the final results will be completed in the fourth quarter of 2012. The relevant data will be officially released in the fourth quarter of 2013.
