Ninety-five years ago today, on July 22, 1930 (June 27, 1930), Germany salvaged the Hindenburg. The Hindenburg, a giant German battlecruiser, was salvaged by a crew led by Ernst Cox on July 22, 1930, after 11 years of sinking and two previous salvage attempts. The 700-foot Hindenburg, the largest warship in the German fleet, was scuttled by its crew in Scapa Bay on June 21, 1919.
