On this day, 99 years ago, March 20, 1926 (February 7, 1926, the lunar calendar), Chiang Kai-shek created the "Zhongshan Ship Incident" in Guangzhou. Zhongshan Ship On March 20, 1926, Chiang Kai-shek created the "Zhongshan Ship Incident" in Guangzhou. The "Zhongshan Ship Incident" was a conspiracy created by Chiang Kai-shek to fight against Communists during the Great Revolution to compete for leadership with the Communist Party. On March 18, 1926, in order to exclude the Communists and seize the military power of the First Army of the National Revolutionary Army, Chiang Kai-shek instructed his brother Ouyang Ge, in the name of the Huangpu Military Academy office in Guangdong Province, to order Li Zhilong (a Communist Party member), acting director of the Naval Bureau and captain of the Zhongshan Ship, to quickly dispatch the "Zhongshan" Ship to Huangpu for standby use. On March 19, after the "Zhongshan" ship sailed for Huangpu, Chiang Kai-shek denied that there had been a transfer order and falsely accused the "Zhongshan" ship of entering Huangpu without authorization and that it was a Communist Party conspiracy to riot. On this basis, Li Zhilong was arrested on the 20th, the "Zhongshan" ship was seized, the Provincial Port Strike Committee was surrounded, the workers 'pickets were confiscated, troops were sent to arrest and monitor Communists, and martial law was declared throughout Guangzhou. As the Central Committee of the Communist Party of China headed by Chen Duxiu adopted a concession policy after the Incident, the party representative system was abolished, forcing all Communist Party members to withdraw from the First Army. The military power of the First Army was controlled by Chiang Kai-shek, and three anti-Chiang Soviet advisers were dismissed and returned home. The incident was a bloodless coup exercise in Chiang Kai-shek's plot against the Communist Party. Captain Li Zhilong of the Zhongshan Ship: The Zhongshan Ship can be said to be one of the most famous warships in China and can be described as "condensed modern history of China." Originally known as the "Yongfeng Ship", it was a steel-and-wood gunboat ordered by the Qing government from Japan's Mitsubishi Shipyard in 1910 for 680,000 silver dollars. The warship was built in 1913, with a length of 65.837 meters, a width of 8.8 meters, and a depth of 4.5 meters. It has 8 main and auxiliary guns and has a fastest speed of 25 kilometers per hour. The Zhongshan Ship, which is usually equipped with weapons, is related to many historical events. In 1922, warlord Chen Jiongming launched an armed rebellion in Guangzhou, bombarding the presidential palace and plotting to harm Sun Yat-sen, the "interim president." Sun Yat-sen boarded the Yongfeng ship to command the suppression of the rebellion after the night breakthrough, which lasted 55 days, making this ship his mobile headquarters. In November 1924, Sun Yat-sen boarded the Yongfeng Ship for the last time and transferred to Beijing to discuss state affairs. He died in Beijing in March of the following year. After Sun Yat-sen's death, on March 30, the Guangzhou National Government renamed the Yongfeng Ship "Zhongshan Ship" and held a renaming ceremony on April 13. A year later, the Zhongshan Ship was once again famous around the world because of the "Zhongshan Ship Incident" created by Chiang Kai-shek. In 1938 during the War of Resistance Against Japanese Aggression, the Zhongshan ship was sunk by the Japanese army on the Yangtze River near Wuhan. 59 years later, in 1997, the famous ship was salvaged out of the water. The hull is currently parked in a shipyard in Wuhan and is still pending repair News raw data sources → https://www.abtool.cn/today_detail/1bqe.html 17WorldNews[2025.09.10-08:31] 访问:78
