character brief introduction
Pasternak's full name is Boris Leonidovich Pasternak. His main works include poetry collections "Gemini in the Clouds" and "Life is My Sister". He won the Nobel Prize in Literature in 1958 for his novel "Doctor Zhivago".
In 1955, during the so-called "thawing period" of Soviet literature, Pasternak wrote Doctor Zhivago. The historical background of this novel is around the First World War and the October Revolution in Russia. It uses Dr. Zhivago's tragic life to reveal the confusion expressed by a generation of intellectuals about the October Revolution. He sent it to the editorial office of New World magazine in the Soviet Union. But the editorial department quickly returned the original manuscript and attached a severely worded letter of condemnation: "The spirit of your novel is hatred of socialism... First, your views on the first 10 years of the 'October Revolution' are intended to explain that this revolution was a mistake, and for those intellectuals who supported the revolution, participating in the revolution was an irreparable disaster, and everything that happened later was a crime..."
However, on October 23, 1958, Pasternak won the Nobel Prize for Literature for his novel "Doctor Zhivago." After the disintegration of the Soviet Union, in an article in Russia's "Moscow News", it was mentioned that it was the CIA who helped him win the Nobel Prize for Literature.
