On September 21, 1989, the first China Film Festival opened in Beijing
On this day 36 years ago, on September 21, 1989 (August 22, 1989 lunar calendar), the first China Film Festival opened in Beijing. On September 21, 1989, the most important festival in our country's film industry since the founding of the People's Republic of China, the first China Film Festival, was grandly opened in Beijing today. Chen Haosu, vice minister of the Ministry of Radio, Film and Television and director of the China Film Festival Organizing Committee, said at the opening ceremony: Chinese film workers will use this film festival to express deep and warm wishes to the great party, the great people and the great socialist motherland, and use the new achievements in developing the nation's socialist film culture to offer rich gifts to the 40th National Festival of the Republic. The new Chinese film industry, which started 40 years ago, has now established an independent and complete film industry system; occupied the domestic film culture market, providing healthy entertainment and aesthetic services to tens of billions of viewers every year; cultivated a large number of artistic talents; formed a unique film art with national characteristics; and made Chinese films begin to go global. The 40 films released in the past two years are the main part of the seven-day film festival. The historical giant film "Founding Ceremony" and the documentary film "This Day Forty Years Ago" were screened at today's opening ceremony as the leading works of this year's film festival. When the main actors of the cast of "Founding Ceremony" led by Li Qiankuan and Xiao Guiyun took the stage, the audience broke into warm applause. It is widely believed that this film masterpiece of Mao Zedong, Liu Shaoqi, Zhou Enlai, Zhu De and Chiang Kai-shek, among other important political figures in modern China, marks an important breakthrough in the ideological and artistic aspects of major Chinese historical films. The festival also selected the top ten movie stars of the forty years since the founding of the People's Republic of China. They are: Zhao Dan, Cui Wei, Bai Yang, Sun Daolin, Yu Lan, Wang Xingang, Xie Fang, Liu Xiaoqing, Pan Hong and Jiang Wen.
