On this day, 34 years ago, on February 26, 1991 (January 12, 1991, the National Superconductivity Laboratory was officially completed at the Institute of Physics, China Academy of Sciences. In order to adapt to the rapid development of high-temperature superconductivity research, the State Planning Commission approved the establishment of the State Key Laboratory of Superconductivity at the Institute of Physics, China Academy of Sciences in 1987. The preparation of the superconducting laboratory began in 1988. It was officially completed on February 26, 1991, passed acceptance, and was officially opened to the public. In 1995, he passed the first evaluation and won the first place in the good category. In 2000, it passed the second evaluation and was rated as an excellent national key laboratory. In January 2002, it was rated as "Advanced Collective" by the Ministry of Personnel and China Academy of Sciences. The current laboratory director is researcher Wen Haihu, and Academician Zhao Zhongxian serves as the director of the academic committee. The research directions of the Superconducting Laboratory are: exploration and research of new superconducting materials and new synthesis processes, research on the physical properties of high-temperature superconductors and experimental and theoretical issues related to the electrical mechanism of high-temperature superconductivity, and physics of high-temperature superconducting films and devices. Research, at the same time, carry out interdisciplinary research on other related materials and related physical issues, solve key technical issues in superconducting applications, and promote the transfer of superconducting technology to the industrial sector.
