On April 8, 1989, Mexican drug smuggler Felix Gallardo was arrested by agents of the Mexican General Prosecutor's Office at his home in Guadalajara. A large amount of cocaine, communication equipment, weapons and ammunition were seized. Gallardo has been engaged in drug smuggling since 1971. He has close connections with gangs in the United States and some South American countries.
