On July 14, 2008 (June 12, 2008 in the lunar calendar), Comrade Wu Wenbin was awarded the honorary title of "Heroic Soldier for Earthquake Relief". On July 14, 2008, Hu Jintao, Chairman of the Central Military Commission of the People's Republic of China, signed an order awarding Comrade Wu Wenbin the honorary title of "Heroic Soldier for Earthquake Relief." Wu Wenbin, a non-commissioned officer from the artillery command company of a division of the Jinan Military Region, was born in October 1982 and joined the army in December 2002. In September 2005, he was admitted to the First Sergeant Team of the School of Surveying and Mapping of the People's Liberation Army Information Engineering University. In 2007, he was assigned to an internship in the artillery command company of a division. On June 18 this year, while accompanying the troops to participate in the earthquake relief work in Wenchuan, Sichuan, he died honorably due to continuous fighting and overwork that caused pulmonary vascular malformation, rupture and bleeding. Based on Comrade Wu Wenbin's consistent performance during his lifetime and his outstanding contributions in earthquake relief, the Party Committee of the Group Army ratified him as an official member of the Communist Party of China and approved him as a martyr.
