On July 4, 2005 (May 28, 2005 in the lunar calendar), the construction of Beijing-Tianjin Intercity Rail Transit officially started. The line leads out from the east end of Beijing South Railway Station, along the south side of the existing Jingshan Railway Line to the east, passing through Yizhuang Industrial Park, Yongle New Town to Yangcun, Tianjin, and then along the north side of the existing Jingshan to Tianjin Railway Station. The total length is 115 kilometers. It has the characteristics of high design standards, high technical content, good environmental protection, strong disaster resistance, and new management system. After completion and operation, the direct operation time of the whole journey from Beijing to Tianjin is about half an hour.
