On this day, 34 years ago, on June 22, 1991 (May 11, 1991 in the lunar calendar), a world-class gas field was discovered in the Shaanxi-Gansu-Ningxia Basin. In June 1991, a major breakthrough was made in natural gas exploration and development in the Shaanxi-Gansu-Ningxia Basin. One of the largest world-class large gas fields in the country is under control, and a wider atmospheric area with good natural gas prospects is in sight. This will bring good news to the people in poverty-stricken areas in northwest China and will play an important role in the development of our country's national economy. The Changqing Petroleum Exploration Bureau, which is responsible for the exploration and development of the atmospheric region of the Shaanxi-Gansu-Ningxia Basin, opened up a new situation in natural gas exploration and development in Jingbian in 1990. In 1991, it organized a large-scale battle and received frequent reports: a number of exploratory wells completed in the first five months were successfully completed, and all of them obtained high-yield gas flow, with the highest yield of gas in a single well reaching over one million cubic meters. This shows that the Jingbian-Hengshan area at the northern end of the Shaanxi-Gansu-Ningxia Central Upright is 80 kilometers from north to south and 40 kilometers from east to west, with a total area of 3200 square kilometers. It is a large atmospheric field with large reserves. The natural gas reserves in the 1200-square-kilometer key area that have been initially proven are already considerable and can be called a world-class large gas field. Moreover, in the entire 15,000-square-kilometer area where the gas field is located, the prospects of natural gas reserves are also very gratifying, and the gas-bearing area continues to expand with the progress of exploration. The exploration and development of this large gas field is progressing rapidly, with little investment, great results, evenly contiguous gas fields, high industrial exploitation value, and remarkable economic benefits.
