On this day, 70 years ago, on April 29, 1955 (March 8, 1955 in the lunar calendar), hostile factions in Saigon launched a civil war. The divided Saigon was bombarded by the Hirakawa sect again. On April 29, 1955, civil war broke out in the streets of Saigon. The city became a sea of fire, chaotic and panicked. Blood was spattered on the streets and hospital walls. Mortar shells landed nearby, but the stunned citizens seemed to have no reaction. The police were divided into two factions, with France and the United States supporting one faction, and the Bulgarian emperor wanted to remotely control the situation from his villa on the French Riviera. The Saigon Police Chief is a member of the Hirakawa sect, and Wu Dinh Diem's dismissal was the trigger of this civil war. Hirakawa taught rebels to fire mortar shells at Wu's territory, and Prime Minister Wu sent troops to the streets of the Urban area. About 100 people have been killed and hundreds have been injured since the conflict, many of them women and children. The Hirakawa sect had been bandits on the river and sided with the French in the anti-communist war. Tensions have been simmering between them and Wu for months. France still supports the Hirakawa sect, while Wu has the backing of the United States. Further complicating matters, the French-backed Emperor Bao Da was alienating Wu. Bao Da now lives in Cannes. Bulgarian general Wu Tingyan traveled to the Riviera and ordered him to hand over more military power to one of his opponents.
