The meeting elected Jiang Zemin as President of the State and Chairman of the Central Military Commission of the People's Republic of China, Li Peng as Chairman of the Standing Committee of the National People's Congress, Hu Jintao as Vice President of the State, and decided that Zhu Rongji should be Premier of the State Council.
