The article said: "Sun Chuanfang came to Shanghai once every two months. According to his remarks, it seemed that he wanted to implement some good governance in Shanghai,... In fact, he did not do the same, but couldn't get through with the models. He acted vigorously and forcefully, and had to close the art college. The commander-in-chief of the five provinces was authoritarian, and he opposed a few poor women and powerless literati Liu Haisu. The model dispute should be over at this point, but the county magistrate Wei Daofeng still complained to the Shanghai court, accusing Liu Haisu of insulting personality, defaming reputation, and demanding compensation for losses. The summons was sent to Liu Haisu by the bailiff accompanied by the French Concession Catcher, and Liu entrusted two lawyers, Chen Tingrui and Wu Jingxiong, to appear in court to defend him. The lawyer Wu Jingxiong planned to negotiate privately with Liu, ostensibly to fine Liu 50 yuan to settle the case, and Liu did not need to take out 50 yuan, but Liu Haisu was asked not to appeal. The reason was that the two felt too much pressure, and they could not settle the dispute without doing so. I hope Liu can understand. Liu had no choice but to agree. After five or six days, the court sentenced Liu Haisu to a fine of 50 yuan. Because Zheng had taken care of the judge in advance, Liu did not appeal.
