Cai E, who became governor after the Yunnan Uprising, was inspired by the Wuchang Uprising. On October 30, 1911, Cai E and others launched an uprising in Kunming. It was originally planned to enter the city to launch an attack at 12:00 p.m., but when the 73rd bullet was fired, an officer noticed that an uprising platoon leader shot and killed him, and the battle started early. Li Genyuan and Li Hongxiang gathered their troops and built a human ladder to climb the city wall into the city. After the city gate was opened, the rebels rushed in, attacked the Arsenal Factory and other places, and attacked the Ordnance Bureau and Wuhua Mountain.
