215 years ago today, on March 1, 1810 (January 26, 1810 lunar calendar), the Polish composer and pianist Chopin was born. Frederic Francesc Chopin, on March 1, 1810, Chopin was born in the Warsaw suburb of Zerazowa Wola. His father was of French origin and was a French teacher in a secondary school in Warsaw. His mother was Polish and served as a housekeeper in the family of a noble relative. Chopin studied piano as a child from a Czech musician, W. Zivni, and began playing publicly at the age of 8. In 1824, he studied music theory under the German musician J.A.F. Elsner, president of the Warsaw Conservatory. After graduating from secondary school in 1826, he entered the Warsaw Conservatory and began his early creative activities at the same time. He graduated from the Academy in 1829. In March 1830, Chopin performed his early masterpiece "Piano Concerto No. 2" (F minor) in Warsaw, and in October of the same year, he played another masterpiece "Piano Concerto No. 1" (E minor) at a farewell concert in Warsaw, both of which were successful. After 1831, he settled in Paris and engaged in piano performance teaching and creative activities. His creations involved various genres of piano music, from Etudes, Preludes, Mazurkas, Polonaise, Nocturnes, Waltz, Impromptu, to more complex ballads, scherzos, and sonatas. He died in his Paris apartment on October 17, 1849. On his deathbed, he ordered his heart to be transported back to his native Poland for burial. Chopin's music has a strong Polish national style. He takes national folk music very seriously, rejects curiosity, and at the same time is not bound by it, always striving to experience its characteristics and recreate it.
