On August 9, 48 BC, the Battle of Fasaro broke out. The armies of Caesar and Pompey set up their positions in Fassaro, central Greece. Among them, Caesar had about 22,000 troops, including 1000 cavalry, Pompey had about 40,000 troops and about 7000 cavalry. Pompey was defeated and fled to Egypt. In this battle, nearly 10,000 people died in Pompey's army, laying the foundation for Caesar to seize power in Rome.
