Forty-one years ago today, on December 10, 1984 (October 18, 1984), the Curies' experimental notes were auctioned. On December 10, 1984, the world-famous Polish-born physicist Maria Skvodovska-Curie and her husband, the French physicist Pierre-Curie, were auctioned at the Droute Auction House in Paris, France. There were two notebooks in the auction, one by Maria and the other by Pierre. Pierre supplemented Maria's notes on the experiments with the radioactive elements Polonium and radium. Pierre's replenishment continued until the week before he was run over by a carriage on April 19, 1906. The notes totaled 130 pages and were priced at 220,000 francs. Pierre's notes on experiments with the radioactive element uranium were supplemented by Maria. This note has 78 pages and is priced at 80,000 francs. It is reported that these notebooks are still radioactive to this day. Not long ago, the Geiger counter measured that these notebooks emitted 600 to 700 particles per second. Maria Curie was born in Warsaw in 1867. During her studies in France, she married the Frenchman Pierre in 1895. She discovered the new elements Polonium and radium in 1898. She was awarded two Nobel Prizes. She died in 1934 due to severe anemia caused by a large amount of radium radiation. The achievements of the Curies' cooperation have made an outstanding contribution to the development of world science.
