On February 19, 628 (the ninth day of the first month of the second year of Zhenguan of the Tang Dynasty), Taizong of the Tang Dynasty asked Wei Zheng: "What makes the Lord bright and what makes the Lord dark?" Wei Zheng said to Emperor Taizong of the Tang Dynasty: "Listening simultaneously will be clear, while listening partially will be dark... If the old man and the monarch listen and accept him widely, then the noble minister cannot hide (cover up), but the feelings of the lower people can be communicated by the above.¡»

After hearing this, Emperor Taizong of Tang said to his courtiers, "In the fourteenth year of the Founding Emperor's severe drought, Emperor Wen of Sui was not allowed to give alms, but let the people eat Shandong. As of this year, the world's reserves can be used for fifty years. Emperor Yang served his wealth, his extravagant heart was insatiable, and he died in the world... I am conscientious, and I am still afraid that it will not be in line with God's will, and I will not be expected by the deputy."

Wei Zheng quietly said to Emperor Taizong of Tang: "If the monarch also listens to the wide acceptance and is cautious as before, it will be good." Emperor Taizong of Tang listened and praised again and again: "Great, great!"
