On September 29, 2011 (September 3, 2011 in the lunar calendar), China launched its first target aircraft, Tiangong-1. The docking mission with the Shenzhou-8 spacecraft was completed in the early morning of November 3, 2011. On the afternoon of June 18, 2012 (14:14), the docking with Shenzhou-9 was successful. The main body of the "Tiangong-1" is short and thick cylindrical, with a diameter larger than that of the Shenzhou spacecraft, and has a docking port at the front and rear. It adopts a two-module configuration, namely an experimental module and a resource module. The experimental module consists of a sealed front cone section, a column section and a rear cone section. The front end of the experimental module is equipped with a docking mechanism, as well as rendezvous and docking measurement and communication equipment, which are used to support Rendezvous and docking with the spacecraft. The resource module provides power for orbital manoeuvres and energy for flight.
