On this day, 33 years ago, on December 1, 1992 (November 8, 1992, the first train of the New Eurasian Continental Bridge departed. On December 1, 1992, the first train of the New Eurasian Continental Bridge departed from Lianyungang. At 1:20 a.m., a long whistle cut through the sky. The wheels of the "Dongfang 1808" train covered in new silk turned and traveled from east to west, leaving the newly built container terminal railway station in Lianyungang and starting a total length of more than 10,000 kilometers. This train carries a total of 30 containers and 15 carriages of bulk cargo, and some of the goods will be sent to Almaty, Moscow, St. Petersburg and other places. The New Eurasian Continental Bridge refers to the railway intermodal line from Lianyungang in my country to the Port of Rotterdam in the Netherlands. It reduces the journey by 3,000 kilometers compared with the Northern Continental Bridge, saves 20% of the cost of traveling by sea, and reduces the time by half. The opening of a new economic artery connecting Asia and Europe is of multi-faceted significance and also marks that my country's Lianyungang has become an international port.
