The Soviet Red Army overthrew power and established the Georgian Soviet Socialist Republic
On February 25, 1921, the Soviet Red Army overthrew the regime and established the Georgian Soviet Socialist Republic.

The Georgian Soviet Socialist Republic, referred to as Georgia, is located in the west-central Transcaucasus connecting Eurasia, bordering the Black Sea to the west, Turkey to the southwest, Russia to the north, and Azerbaijan and the Republic of Armenia to the southeast.
In the 6th century BC, the slave kingdom of Korhida was established in present-day Georgia, and a feudal state was established in the 4th to 6th centuries AD. From the 6th to the 10th centuries AD, it was ruled by the Sassanid Dynasty in Iran, the Byzantine Empire and the Arab Caliphate. The Georgian nation was basically formed from the 6th to the 10th century AD, and feudal duchies such as Kahdya, Eretin, Tao-Kraardeti and the Kingdom of Abkhazia were formed from the 8th to the early 9th century AD. In the 13th and 14th centuries, the Mongolian Tartars and Timur invaded successively. From the 15th to the early 17th centuries, many independent principalities and kingdoms emerged in Georgia. From the 16th to the 18th century, Georgia was the object of competition between Iran and Turkey. From 1801 to 1864, Georgia's principalities were successively annexed by Tsar Russia and changed to Tifris and Kutaisi provinces. 1918 German, Turkish and British troops invaded Georgia.
The Georgian Soviet Socialist Republic was established on February 25, 1921. In 1922, Georgia, Azerbaijan and Armenia formed the Transcaucasian Soviet Socialist Federal Republic, becoming one of the founding members of the Union of Soviet Socialist Republics. In 1931, the Abkhaz Soviet Socialist Republic was renamed the Autonomous Abkhaz Soviet Socialist Republic, becoming an autonomous republic of the Georgian Soviet Socialist Republic.
In 1936, the Georgian Soviet Socialist Republic was established and became one of the Union Republics of the Soviet Union. In 1991, the Soviet Union disintegrated, Georgia gained independence, and changed its name to the Republic of Georgia. In 1995, it was renamed Georgia. In 1993, Georgia joined the Commonwealth of Independent States. On August 14, 2008, Georgia announced its withdrawal from the Commonwealth of Independent States. Officially withdrawn on August 18, 2009.
