Panjiayu Massacre on January 25, 1941
On this day, 84 years ago, on January 25, 1941 (December 28, 1940, the Japanese army committed the Panjiayu Massacre, killing more than 1200 people. Corner of the scene of the Panjiayu Massacre On January 25, 1941 (the 28th of the twelfth lunar month of the old calendar), when the Japanese invading army was conducting a sweep in eastern Hebei, they surrounded Panjiayu Village, Fengrun County, Hebei Province, massacred villagers and burned down houses in the village. 1237 people were killed and 1000 houses were burned. Panjiayu is located 60 miles northeast of Fengrun County in eastern Hebei. Before the tragedy, there were 220 households in the village, which was the permanent residence of the joint anti-Japanese democratic regime in Fengrun County. At dawn on January 25, 1941, the Japanese and puppet troops stationed in Tangshan, Luanxian, Qian 'an, Fengrun and other places jointly mobilized and suddenly surrounded Panjiayu Village. The Japanese puppet troops first searched house-to-house, forced the masses to go to the big pit in the west of the village, and then began to massacre. Japanese military rifles and machine guns standing on the wall at that time fired at the crowd and set fire to the people's houses at the same time. Except for a few of the people in the house who narrowly escaped death, all the others were brutally killed. After shooting, the Japanese and puppet troops still refused to give up and threw grenades at the pile of corpses, blowing up the bones and flying everywhere. The Japanese puppet army also searched around the village, concentrated and killed 32 captured people in Nanya, and set fire to the bodies. More than 30 women were also killed after being raped by the Japanese army in the sweet potato cellar. The Panjiayu Massacre is a specific evidence of the implementation of the "Three Lights Policy" during the war of aggression against China. The innocent villagers burned to death black represent the victims at the scene of the tragedy where more than 1000 people were killed
