Panjiayu is located 60 miles northeast of Fengrun County in eastern Hebei. Before the tragedy, there were 220 households in the village, which was the permanent residence of the joint anti-Japanese democratic regime in Fengrun County. At dawn on January 25, 1941, the Japanese and puppet troops stationed in Tangshan, Luanxian, Qian 'an, Fengrun and other places jointly mobilized and suddenly surrounded Panjiayu Village. The Japanese puppet troops first searched house-to-house, forced the masses to go to the big pit in the west of the village, and then began to massacre. Japanese military rifles and machine guns standing on the wall at that time fired at the crowd and set fire to the people's houses at the same time. Except for a few of the people in the house who narrowly escaped death, all the others were brutally killed. The Japanese puppet army also searched around the village, concentrated and killed 32 captured people in Nanya, and set fire to the bodies.
