On April 24, 1950, Transjordan was renamed Jordan
On this day, 75 years ago, on April 24, 1950 (March 8, 1950 in the lunar calendar), Trans-Jordan was renamed Jordan. On April 24, 1950, the territory known as Arab Palestine disappeared, and TransJordan no longer existed. The two lands merged into a new country, Jordan. This political step in Amman puts Jordan on the path of direct conflict with Israel and Arab League countries. There are records that the Arab League supports the existence of Arab Palestine, a step that was immediately endorsed by Britain. A foreign affairs spokesman in London said the British Foreign Office was in favor of the merger. This means that the military alliance between Britain and Jordan will extend to both sides of the Jordan River. This makes Israel uneasy because it does not want British sentries on its eastern border.
