Breaking-News >> WorldNews US expands visa restrictions on Palestinians
According to the US "New York Times" on August 31, the Trump administration has completely suspended the issuance of non-immigrant visitor visas to Palestinian passport holders. The restrictions covered a variety of applications for Palestinian passport holders to travel to the United States for medical treatment, school, business travel and visiting relatives, the State Department explained in a telegram sent to U.S. embassies around the world on August 18, which means that the U.S. restriction on visas for Gaza residents has been substantially expanded, affecting Palestinian passport holders in the West Bank and wider regions. In addition, the US State Department issued a statement on August 29 saying that the 80th session of the United Nations General Assembly is about to be held, and Secretary of State Rubio ordered the refusal or revocation of visa applications of some Palestinian officials. The Palestinian Authority condemned it, saying that the US move "violates international law and the United Nations Headquarters Agreement". On August 16, the U.S. State Department announced that it was reviewing the processes and procedures for issuing certain types of visas, suspending the issuance of visitor visas to all individuals from Gaza during this period.
