On the same day, Zelensky said in a statement on social media that one person was detained after the shooting death of Parrubi in the city of Lviv on Saturday. Other than the suspect's "preliminary statement", no details were released about the suspect or the motive for the killing.
"The necessary investigative actions are ongoing," Mr. Zelensky said. "I have directed that available information be made available to the public."

Paruby, a 54-year-old lawmaker in the Lviv region, participated in the 2004 Ukrainian Orange Revolution and led the Self-Defense Volunteer Force in the 2014 Independence Square protests that forced pro-Russian President Viktor Yanukovych to resign.
Yanukovych's lavishly decorated official residence during his reign, which he fled to Moscow, has been criticized by the public as a "museum of corruption." Yanukovych and his cronies have been accused of siphoning billions of dollars from the state budget.
Mr. Parubiy also served as secretary of Ukraine's National Security and Defense Council from February to August 2014, when fighting raged in eastern Ukraine and Russia annexed the Crimean peninsula. Officials have not said whether the murder was directly linked to the Russian-Ukrainian conflict.
From 2016 to 2019, Parubi served as Speaker of the Parliament of Ukraine.

According to local media reports, Parubi was repeatedly shot and killed by a gunman dressed as an electric bicycle courier in the western Ukrainian city of Lviv.
The shooting occurred at noon on Saturday (30 August) local time, when a man wearing an outsourcing uniform and riding an electric bike fired at Paruby on the street of Lviv and died on the scene after Paruby was shot.
That day, Lviv police chief Shlyakhovsky told a news conference that gunmen had fired about eight shots at Parubi and that the attack had been "orchestrated." '
Lviv chief prosecutor Melet said that all possible motives for the shooting were being investigated, including whether Russia was involved.
On Saturday, Mr. Zelensky posted on social media: "Interior Minister Ihor Klemenko and Prosecutor General Ruslan Kravchenko have just reported preliminary information on a horrific murder in Lviv. Andrei Parubi has been killed."
He expressed his condolences to Paruby’s family and loved ones, adding: “We are using all the necessary forces and means to investigate and pursue the murderer.”
