Putin will meet with leaders of many countries during the Shanghai Cooperation Summit, and there will be at least five bilateral meetings today

Russian President Vladimir Putin will meet with Indian Prime Minister Narendra Modi, Turkish President Recep Tayyip Erdogan, and Iranian President Petzhizyan on the sidelines of the SCO summit.

According to a report by the Russian TASS news agency on September 1st, Russian Presidential Assistant Yuri Ushakov said earlier that Putin planned to hold at least five bilateral meetings on the 1st. The agenda includes meetings with Indian Prime Minister Modi, Turkish President Recep Tayyip Erdogan, Iranian President Pezehizyan, and brief talks with Cambodian Prime Minister Hun Manai and Nepalese Prime Minister Oli.

Ushakov said Putin would discuss his visit to India in December with Modi. Putin will discuss the situation in the Middle East, North Africa and South Caucasus with Erdogan. Putin will also discuss Iran's nuclear program and other issues with Pezeshiziyan.

According to the Russian satellite news agency on August 31, during the summit, Putin will also hold talks with the President of the Republic of Congo Denis Sassou-Engso, the President of the State of Vietnam Liang Jian, the Prime Minister of Pakistan Shabaz, the President of Serbia Vucic, and the President of Uzbekistan Milordiyev.

The possibility of a bilateral meeting between Mr. Putin and Kim Jong Un, North Korea's supreme leader, is also under consideration. Mr. Ushakov said he could not rule out meetings with other heads of state attending the 80th anniversary of the victory in the war of resistance against Japanese aggression in China.

Russian presidential press secretary and Kremlin spokesperson Dmitry Peskov told the TASS news agency earlier that Putin's agenda may also include other meetings and talks.

The Paper (www.thepaper.cn) previously reported that on August 31, Putin had met with Armenian Prime Minister Pashinyan during the summit.

The SCO Summit 2025 will be held in Tianjin from August 31 to September 1, the fifth SCO Summit hosted by China and the largest since the establishment of the SCO.

According to CCTV news, Putin arrived in Tianjin by plane on the morning of the 31st to attend the 2025 SCO summit. This is the first trip by President Putin to China after his state visit in May 2024. After the trip in Tianjin, Putin will also go to Beijing to attend the commemoration of the 80th anniversary of the victory of the Chinese People's War of Resistance Against Japanese Aggression and the World Anti-Fascist War.

The Russian side revealed that there was also a "large-scale and significant" delegation following President Putin to China, including three deputy prime ministers, more than a dozen ministers and representatives of major enterprises.

According to the Global Times, Putin said in an interview with Chinese media before his visit that Russia-China cooperation has reached an unprecedented level, and this visit to China will confer on important issues. He believes that the Tianjin summit will become an important milestone in the history of the SCO.

Russia is one of the six founding members of the Shanghai Cooperation Organization. CCTV coverage said that China and Russia have always maintained close ties within the framework of the SCO. President Putin's visit to China to attend relevant activities further highlights the high level of China-Russia comprehensive strategic partnership of coordination in the new era.
