Pratik Pandey, a 35-year-old software engineer at Microsoft, was found lying face down in the courtyard of the company's Silicon Valley campus in the early hours of August 20 local time.
A preliminary assessment by the forensic office in Santa Clara County, California, revealed that Pandi died of a sudden heart attack.
Satish Chandra, a well-known figure in the local community, revealed that before this, Pandy had no known health problems. Chandra said in an interview that Pandy complained to his roommates and colleagues many times during his lifetime that he was "under great pressure and needed to take care of multiple projects at the same time."
Mr. Pandey swiped his card into the office at 7:50 p.m. on Aug. 19 and was never able to leave, according to a family member who has spoken to Microsoft, who said he "often worked late into the night."
It was also reported that Pandy's uncle Manoi said he learned from Pandy's roommates and friends that Pandy had "been working late at night for a very long time." "Technology companies should be aware of employees working late at night and take steps to relieve their stress and anxiety, which may save a life," he said.
The local police arrived at the scene around 2 a.m. on the 20th and said after an initial investigation that "no signs of suspicious activity or behavior were found," so the case was not being investigated as a criminal case.
According to reports, Pandi came from Indore, Central India, to the United States more than a decade ago and earned a master's degree in computer science at San Jose State University. Prior to joining Microsoft in 2020, he worked at Apple and Walmart. At Microsoft, he was in charge of the development of data analytics products, reporting to the cloud and AI executive vice president Scott Ghrelly.
In the eyes of colleagues and friends, Pandi is not only outstanding in business, but also a "happy soul with a bright smile". he loves life, especially football, but also loves bowling and ping pong.
Microsoft declined to comment on the tragedy, saying only that it was "still under investigation."
Pandey's parents, who are far away in India, are grieving and hope to have his body transported back to their hometown.
