The former speaker of Ukraine was shot dead, and Zelensky ordered a thorough investigation

Ukrainian Supreme Rada (Parliament) former chairman and former secretary of the National Security and Defense Committee Andrey Paruby was shot dead in the city of Lviv in the west of Ukraine on August 30.

According to Ukrainian media reports, the shooting incident occurred at noon on the 30th local time. A man wearing a takeaway uniform and riding an electric bicycle shot at Parubi on the streets of Lviv. Parubi died on the spot after being shot. The murderer quickly fled after committing the crime, and his identity and motive are still unclear.

Lviv police chief Shliahovsky said at a news conference that the gunman fired about eight shots at Paruby and that the attack was "carefully planned".

Lviv chief prosecutor Melet said that all possible motives for the shooting were being investigated, including whether Russia was involved.

Zelensky said in a post on social media on the 30th that it was a terrible murder and that "we are using all necessary forces and means to investigate and search for the murderer."

Palubi, 54, is currently a member of the Ukrainian parliament, served as secretary of the National Security and Defense Committee in 2014 and as chairman of the Supreme Rada from 2016 to 2019.
