On August 29th, Thailand's United Land Forces to Defend Sovereignty Group held a press conference after the Constitutional Court ruled that Prime Minister Petongtan was dismissed. Pichi, the core leader of the People's Democratic Reform Committee (PDRC), said that although Petongtan had been sentenced to dismiss, there was still another prime minister candidate controlled by Thaksin for the Thai Party. Therefore, the suspicion of dishonesty is that the national interests led by Thaksin are above all else, and even though Petongtan has been ousted, these networks of interests still exist.
Mr. Pic said he did not trust Mr. Thaksin's Pheu Thai party to form a government because conflicts of interest would persist, so to demonstrate his commitment to preventing conflicts of interest from becoming an obstacle to national development, he called for solidarity demonstrations against such conflicts.
He opposes the formation of a government led by the Thai Party due to conflicts of interests at home and abroad. Therefore, he has arranged to hold a demonstration at the Victory Monument at 12 noon on August 31st to show their strength together.
